Actually I'm in Los Angeles area. It seems like those (your family?) in the video are surprised to see this type of prefabricated Chinatown. These Chinese strip malls are fairly common in California.

The part between 1:42 to 1:48 is the best: "Filipino restaurants, Japanese restaurants, and Korean restaurants. They have it all. They come to Chinatown and open these kinds of restaurants. Frustrating!"
